Brazil Presents 2014 Team Players

20th July 2010

Now that the South African football tournament has come to an end, Brazil has taken the first steps to its 2014 World Cup celebrations. Since the World Cup will be the first of two top sporting events and a source of major investment, Brazil is taking the preparations very seriously.

These preparations include the launch of the "Brazil Team of Cities" website and the unveiling of the Brazilian World Cup logo. The new website showcases the 12 cities in Brazil set to host football matches during the 2014 tournament. 12 football players represent the cities and a click on each footballer takes you to a "player profile" on the city, which includes vital statistics such as the city's age, position and skill. Each of the 12 city profiles includes videos, a guide to popular tourist attractions in the area and picture postcards of the top sites.

According to Embratur, the Brazilian Tourist Office, visitors to the 2014 World Cup will be able to use the site to plan their trip to Brazil. For example, a click on the footballer representing Natal tells you the city's age is 410 years old, its position is north east Brazil and Natal's skills are "warm people and sun all year round". Highlights from the Natal postcards include the area's famous sandy beaches such as Pipa and Genipabu, which are among the most beautiful in Brazil and sought-after destinations for property investment in Brazil.

The hosting of World Cup matches in Natal adds to the area's attractions and will vastly increase tourist interest in the area. This will enhance property investment potential, a fact recognised by Obelisk International when pinpointing north east Brazil as an investment hotspot.

Investment into the "Brazil Team of Cities" website and accompanying marketing campaign runs to US$30 million this year. The site forms part of the wider tourist promotional package called "Brazil calls you. Celebrate life here".

Along with the 12-city website, Brazil has also unveiled its World Cup logo. The ceremony took place in South African just before the end of this year's tournament and was attended by President Lula. Called 'Inspiration', the logo depicts three hands (two green and one yellow) raising the World Cup trophy together. The logo symbolises the warm welcome Brazil will give the thousands of World Cup visitors and the importance of working together.

2014 might seem a long way away, but Brazil is already busy making sure the next World Cup will be one big celebration. As investors in Brazil with Obelisk International are well aware, Brazil has plenty to celebrate - a growing economy, a booming export industry and thriving domestic market, a stable democracy and huge investment potential.

As the President of Organising Committee for Brazil 2014, Ricardo Teixeira said in South Africa, "The world should soon start preparing to feel a touch more Brazilian, as a team of 190 million Brazilians will turn the World Cup into the biggest party on the planet".
