Poland: Investment Potential 2007

Property investors in Poland will be pleased to hear that the country's economy has been growing steadily for over a decade, thanks in part to the huge inward investment it received from the EU after its accession in 2004. Knight Frank's Residential Review of Poland in 2008 reported GDP growth of 6.4% in 2007 and this combined with a fast-growing tourist industry makes Poland a favourable environment for overseas property investment.

Poland's Strong Economy

As the economy continues to develop, capital investments should yield a strong return for property investors in Poland. The country has a thriving private sector which created 300,000 jobs in 2006 alone and growth is predicted to remain at reasonably high levels during 2008, according to The Economist. These figures were based on rising private consumption, a 16.7% increase in investment and burgeoning exports.

Poland's Thriving Tourism

Growing tourism is a vital factor for property investors in Poland and according to the Polish National Tourist Office, the country attracted around 7 million tourists in the first half of 2007, an increase of 6.5% on the previous year. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) ranks Poland as Europe's fifth most popular destination and the country's Institute of Tourism expects tourist numbers to exceed 20 million by 2010, which can only be good news for property investors in Poland.

Property Investment in Poland

Property investors in Poland are heading for Polish cities which continue to be popular city-break destinations. Warsaw and Krakow in particular offer great buy-to-let potential, especially now that a wide range of low cost airlines operate to and from Poland. In addition, Poland will host the Euro 2012 football tournament, adding to the attractiveness of Poland's property investment potential.
